RDS employs nine full-time Interns each year. We encourage Interns to train for two years, each year in a different grade. Internships are offered in grades K-3.
Interns are teachers in training. We hire college graduates who are interested in pursuing a career in teaching. Many of our Interns also pursue a Master’s Degree or teaching credential while they complete their Internship, but it is not a requirement.
Interns work closely with a master teacher to learn about classroom management strategies, curriculum design, project based instruction, learning differences, report writing, handling parent communication, etc. We expect that you participate in recess duties, parent-teacher conferences, and a few evening events. Interns help out with an after school study hall once or twice a week, attend all faculty meetings, and participate in school-sponsored professional development days.

What is the salary?
First year Interns make $20,000 and second year Interns make $25,000. Full medical, dental, life insurance and TIAA-CREF are also included.
When does the school year begin?
Interns will begin the school year around the third week of August. The school year usually ends the second week of June.
How do I apply?
Please submit applications to the Internship Coordinators (email adresses are on the application), who will set up campus tours. Applicants who are a good match for our school will be asked to come back for a formal interview with faculty members and other current Interns.
