Upper School Update

NEW!  Upper School Curriculum Guide & Daily Schedule now available online

From the desk of Ray Wilson, Upper School Director

Athletics

One question that I am frequently asked is “will RDS have a sports program?” My eyes light up as I begin to answer what one may consider a basic question. The presence of a strong athletic program on a high school campus is an essential component to sustaining a thriving school community. All students, if they choose, will be able to participate in team sports.

Our program philosophy will emphasize teamwork, sportsmanship and being one’s best. Our definition of success will be grounded not only in the outcome on the scoreboard, but also in the process of preparing for each contest. As long as we can say that were prepared and gave our best effort, the scoreboard will speak for itself.

It is safe to say that our teams will outscore other schools, earn league championships and most importantly, have fun. So, yes, RDS will have a strong sports program where all students will realize success, and have a little icing along the way.

Personal Fitness

All students will be required to develop an individualized fitness program that promotes a healthy lifestyle.  They will work one-on-one and in small groups to design a plan that supports their needs and interests, and will include cardio fitness, nutrition, health & wellness.
